Officials with Airtex Products in Fairfield called employees into a series of meetings Tuesday morning to announce massive layoffs.

The company will cut up to 160 production workers and as many as 60 company employees. Present production employment stands at just over 300 workers. The Fairfield facility manufactures fuel pumps for the automotive industry.

Officials with Airtex said the figures do not include an undisclosed number of temporary workers who also have been targeted for layoff.
